Top 7 fantastic famous Halong Bay rocks

With thousands of islands created by the magnificent and lively creation, Ha Long Bay has been recognized by Unesco many times as a World Natural Heritage Site. Not only because of the endless beauty bestowed by mother nature, but this place also makes visitors enjoy being immersed in their imagination by hundreds of limestone islands with strange shapes. Here are a few outstanding rocks that we have listed for your reference.

Fighting Cocks - The most famous rock in Halong Bay

This is the most prominent rock that cannot be mentioned when visiting Ha Long. Fighting Cocks, also as known as Trong Mai rock was located on the Southwest side of Halong bay, which is far from Bai Chau beach about 5 kilometers and growing 10 meters above the sea.
This small island cluster is shaped like a pair of chickens, one cock and one hen, about 12 meters high with each rock, holding their heads together in a very precarious position. Despite its precarious appearance, it seemed that a strong wave could collapse at any time, but surprisingly, this island still stood strong and witnessed hundreds of millions of years pass. This is also the stone discovered in the early days of Ha Long Bay and has become one of the symbols of Ha Long Bay in particular and Vietnam tourism in general.

Ha Long bay Toad (Con Coc Islet)

Con Coc Rock is not too far from the shore of Ha Long city and is located in the middle of Cat Ba island. This is an inclined rock with a small foundation of 70°. If you let your imagination run wild and with the right perspective, you will easily see a toad made of stone sitting on the water and this toad seems to look up at the sky.

In Vietnam, the Toad is affectionately known as Uncle of God - associated with the fairy tale that people often tell each other. A fairy tale about the arduous march of animals, facing extinction due to a great drought, they invited each other to the Heavenly Court to fight for the Jade Emperor to send rain to the world. That army was led by a brave Toad. After winning, God had to accept Toad as his uncle, and Toad made a condition that when Toad gritted his teeth, God had to follow orders and let the rain fall on the earth. Today, Toad Island still stands tall in Ha Long Bay, making a significant contribution to the tour and discovery of beautiful Ha Long Bay, attractive to domestic and foreign tourists.

Human Head - A floating head in the middle of Ha Long

What an amazing gift from nature when a huge rock that is millions of years old has a shape like a human head. If you have a chance to admire this fascinating rock, it will surprise you because of its shape. This “Head Rock” has all the parts like a real human head with a horizontal view, including the nose, chin, lips, and eyes.

Pencil Islet - Knowledgeable symbol of Ha Long bay

On the way to Three Peaches, far from Con Coc Islet about 30 minutes by boat, you will witness a pen-shaped rock island on the immense sea. This rock will make a strong impression on you with its structure, which with a tiny foundation compared to its upper body, but this rock still stance through storms and erosion. Because of this pen-shaped and its gradient, Pencil Islet looks like a pen brush in Confucianism. This is also the “monument” of knowledge that the Mother Dragon wants to send back to today’s generations.

Dinh Huong Islet - Ha Long bay on the Vietnamese banknote

Located Southwest of Dau Go cave, Dinh Huong Islet is like a giant incense burner to sacrifice to heaven and earth, appearing in the vast sea of water. The image of incense burners is extremely familiar and sacred to Asian countries. It is used to pay tribute to the living to their ancestors, heaven, and Earth. This is also the image that appears on the 200,000 VND cash.

Xep Islet - Halong pyramid

Located in Bai Tu Long and Cam Pha bays, Xep Islet is a massive rock with an impressive and interesting shape for visitors. It is a large block of stone, square, many layers "stacked" on top of each other in layers, in a very clear line like an Egyptian pyramid erected in the middle of the sea. What a fantastic experience when you can admire a pyramid in the middle of the immense blue water.

Swan Islet - Lost swan in Ha Long Bay

This is a rocky island floating on the surface of Bai Tu Long Bay. With a shape like a swan bobbing on the water full of charm and impression, this stone is like a lost swan, floating on the water.
This stone swan has spent countless movies and made visitors near and far admire its graceful body.
