Thien Canh Son Cave
A wide cavern with three main chambers on the island of the same name, entry to Thien Canh Son Cave is by a cliff face via a hidden trail through a thick canopy of trees. The cave formations are usually associated with various daily objects, lotus blooms, a baby elephant, seals, and other flowers. There's a nice beach here too, making it an ideal stop-off point to explore for a few hours.
Ban Chan Beach
Very much of a beach area called "off the beaten track," the white sand of Ban Chan Beach fringed by idyllic green / blue sea makes it one of the most popular beaches in the whole world. Surrounded by rugged rocks and lush green forests, enjoying a swim, kayaking or a beach barbecue is a wonderful atmosphere.
Vung Vieng Fishing Village
Vung Vieng Fishing Village, one of the last remaining of its kind, is an important stop-off point for any visitor hoping to get an insight into traditional Halong culture and life. Although it is no longer inhabited full-time, the floating village is kept for tourists to walk in and learn about the deep-rooted traditions of Halong.
Stopping off and taking some photographs is also a visually impactful spot.
