5 must-visit caves in Halong bay

Halong Bay is a cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO in 2003, not only because of its majestic beauty but also attracts domestic and foreign tourists with pristine beauty, inherent like caves. We recommend a list of beautiful caves when visiting Ha Long Bay to satisfy your reference.

Sung Sot cave (Suprise Cave) - One of the most beautiful caves in Halong bay

Sung Sot means surprise in Vietnamese. The unique name of this cave originates in 1901. When a French scientist visited this place, he was surprised by the incredible beauty of the cave and named the cave "Grotte de la surprise." - the cave of surprise and astonishment.

Sung Sot Cave is located on Bo Hon Island, in the center of Ha Long Bay. This is a cave that is visited by a large number of tourists. To be able to admire the beauty of Sung Sot Cave, visitors will have to experience the exciting feeling of climbing and walking under the dense forest foliage and craggy stone steps.

Sung Sot Cave is about 10,000 square meters wide, with two main compartments. The first compartment is like a giant, expansive theater, which will make you "stunned" by the ceiling covered with "velvet carpet" and many "suspended chandeliers" with shimmering and colorful stalactites. When entering the cave, visitors will feel lost in a fairyland with many stone statues and stalagmites with strange and unique shapes, creating more mystery in the cave.
The separation between the two cave compartments will be a small passage, and visitors will go through this passage to enter the second compartment to visit. This compartment is large, with a capacity of thousands of people. Inside, the scene is extraordinary and exceptional, making anyone who has witnessed it startle because there is such a beautiful and mysterious cave in the middle of modern times. Because of the fantastic beauty with such "one-on-one," this will be one of the caves you must visit when traveling to Ha Long.

Heavenly Palace Cave (Thien Cung cave)- The paradise castle of Halong

If you are a cave-addicted person and are fascinated by history, then Heavenly Palace cave will be the place that you cannot ignore. The cave is located southwest of Ha Long Bay, about 4 km from the cruise ship port. The road to this cave is quite rugged, with craggy cliffs and overgrown trees. However, after crossing the treacherous road and through the narrow door, Thien Cung Cave appears shimmering and colorful, with many colors shining on the stalactites. The beauty of Thien Cung Cave makes visitors admire and be amazed. The stalactites hang like soft, flexible curtains.

It can be said that Mother Nature was too fond of Ha Long when "banning" many beautiful caves in this land. Thien Cung Cave is one of such beautiful caves, created by the hands of nature, exceedingly meticulous, delicate, and sharp. Thien Cung Cave is like a lively “art museum” where most artworks come from rocks and stalactites. Thien Cung cave is widely known and considered a mysterious underground paradise.

Dau Go cave - Halong cave of wonders

Dau Go Cave is also known as Hidden Go Cave. The cave got its name because of the legend that, in the past, this was the place to hide ironwood stakes to prepare for the battle against the Nguyen - Mong army of Tran Hung Dao, one of the greatest generals in history. Vietnam.

Dau Go Cave looks majestic, contemplative, and beautiful, like a painting created by nature with magical drawings. The book Merveille de Monde (World Wonders) of France, specializing in tourism introducing famous landscapes in the world, published in 1938, was once written about Dau Go Cave as Grotte des Merveilles (cave of wonders).
Once you visit this cave, you could be immediately impressed because Dau Go Cave is the gathering place of ancient artistic architecture along with small and soaring stone pillars, pillars, and stalagmites. It is excellent that in the middle of the sea of Ha Long Bay, such a beautiful and unique cave appears. From afar, visitors to Dau Go Cave can see the blue cave door, the shape of a jellyfish appearing in the jade green color of the waters of Ha Long Bay. To see the cave, visitors have to go through 90 stone steps. The cave has three main compartments, the dome is about 25m high, and there are many stalactites from the cave arch that look like a strange stone waterfall. Standing under the turn of the cave, visitors feel like they are standing in the middle of a shimmering, magnificent castle with incredibly monumental architecture.

Maze cave (Me Cung cave) - The labyrinth in Halong

Maze Cave has located about 2km from the beach of Ti-Top Island to the southwest. The cave is situated on Lom Bo island, about 25m above sea level. From a distance, the cave door looks like a roof deep into the island's slopes. Me Cung cave has a highly complex structure, including many levels, compartments, and niches spread within the stone roof with a more than 100m long corridor, gradually rising to the west and descending into the small lake area. The island has a narrow entrance. Only one person can pass through. Inside the cave are many small compartments, but the scene is terrific with statue-shaped stalactites and beautiful patterns. Archaeologists consider Maze Cave to be one of the relics of the pre-Ha Long culture in the early Neolithic period, which existed from 7,000 to 10,000 years ago. The remaining vestiges found at the cave entrance are Melania's snail shells - a snail species that only live in streams. Visiting and exploring caves, visitors seem to be entering a strange world, a palace of the emperor of Persia in a fairy tale or like a labyrinth in the middle of the world.

The cave not only attracts tourists to visit but also many archaeologists and scientists come to study history, culture, and geology. If they hear about Lom Bo Island and Me Cung Cave, visitors to Ha Long Tour will want to come and explore a trip. The scenery in Lom Bo island also has many things worth visiting and admiring. This place has ancient trees reflecting on the surface of Me Cung Lake. Many rare and wild animals still live and live. It can be said that Me Cung Cave is one of the beautiful caves of Ha Long Bay, a suitable place for eco-tours for those who love nature and animals.

Fairy cave (Tien Ong Cave) - Vestiges of ancient Vietnamese culture

Tien Ong Cave is located in the center of Cai Tai island, in the Hang Trai island chain south of Ha Long Bay, about 20 km from Ha Long to the south, and about 5-7 km from Cat Ba island in Hai Phong to the east.
Tien Ong Cave is located at an altitude of 5m above sea level and has an entrance up to 50m wide. The length of the cave is about 156m (not too long compared to other large caves on the bay), divided into two parts separated by a rock block. Large stalactites in the middle of the cave. Inside the cave are three stalagmites like the image of 3 Tiens with a kind face, long hair, and beard, so people around the area call the cave Tien Ong.

Tien Ong Cave was the residence of the ancient Viet people thousands of years ago. In the cave were relics such as stone, bone, and pottery. The stonework is mainly limestone with axes, spears, and spears. Besides, there are pebbles and stalactites for making tools. Although not much, it has shown dynamism in dealing with nature to adapt to the environment of the prehistoric Tien Ong cave inhabitants. This place can be considered an essential premise for the following marine cultures in the later stages of development, such as the Cai Beo and Ha Long cultures. Hang Tien not only has the majestic beauty of nature but also is a living witness to an ancient Vietnamese culture in Ha Long. Currently, this is one of the caves in Ha Long attracting a lot of curiosity from domestic and foreign tourists.
